Seasick MSC Cruise Passenger, 23, Fell Overboard and Vanished: Report

cruise ship accident 2023

One person was transported to a local hospital in serious condition, and another person was found deceased in the water at the accident scene. The ship, traveling under its own power, is currently sailing to Bremerhaven, Germany, for disembarkation, HX said in an updated statement Friday. The rogue wave shattered windows on the ship's bridge, which caused water to enter the vessel and resulted in a power outage, Reuters reported.

The women – Natalia and Ashley – set sail from Tampa on the Fantasy class vessel on Sunday, September 10, 2023, on what was to have been a roundtrip cruise to Mexico. Pete Peterson, owner of Storybook Cruises, which is affiliated with Cruise Planners, said cruise ships keep a close eye on weather developments and will adjust their itinerary depending on the severity of the storm. The ship’s medical staff did help a “small number” of guests and crew members who needed minor assistance following the storm.

As of 10 a.m., the port remains closed, and cruise travelers are being advised to wait before heading to the terminals.

On September 17, 2016, a 71-year-old female passenger (suffering from severe respiratory arrest) was medevaced by USCG. The ship was near Southwest Pass (Mississippi River, Louisiana), returning to homeport NOLA New Orleans from 7-day Western Caribbean cruise (itinerary Sept 11-18) to Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel Mexico. On January 6, 2020, while en-route from Texas to Mexico, due to a medical emergency the liner had to return back to homeport (Galveston TX) to offload a passenger.

A Norwegian cruise ship lost the ability to navigate after a rogue wave crashed into it Thursday, the cruise company HX said. Thursday morning, leaving the ship visibly damaged and as well as damaging the pier. No one was injured in the incident and the cause of the collision was not determined as of Friday morning. SAN FRANCISCO -- A Princess Cruises ship that was damaged after crashing into the pier while docking in San Francisco Thursday is not expected to leave until Sunday, passengers said.

In 2023, at least 10 people fell off a major cruise line ship, turning dream vacations into disaster situations — and only two survived the fall into the ocean. “I noticed we were spinning pretty quick, to be that close to the dock, and I was mid-ship, portside, looked out the window and we smacked into the dock,” Sacramento resident and passenger Paul Zasso told ABC7 News. On August 27, 2019, due to a propulsion issue affecting its max cruising speed, the liner canceled the scheduled call at Progreso (Mexico). The call port was replaced with a sea day as the ship was en-route from Mexico back to the USA. Later, another Jayhawk helicopter returned and successfully completed the medevac. According to a report from the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), there were 212 overboard incidents from 2009 to 2019, and only 48 — or 28.2% — of those who fell overboard were successfully rescued.

The captain was expecting rougher weather that evening, but there was nothing to worry about. Most of the injuries were minor, but five people were more badly hurt and required treatment in the vessel’s onboard medical facilities. The ship was wrapping up a two-week, round-trip cruise from Portsmouth, England, to the Canary Islands that departed on Oct. 24, according to CruiseMapper. Passengers on Saga Cruises’ Spirit of Adventure cruise ship were injured after getting caught in a storm over the weekend.

cruise ship accident 2023

The ship was originally scheduled to depart Thursday afternoon before the crash left a gash in its hull and prompted the lengthy delay. A spokesperson for MSC Cruises said, "We are deeply saddened by this news, and our thoughts are with the family at this very difficult time," per The Telegraph. "She said there had been an accident and Liam 'wasn't coming back.' She then said she had seen CCTV and he'd gone overboard." MSC confirmed a passenger went missing during the cruise, prompting an investigation by Hampshire Constabulary upon the ship's return to the UK, per The Telegraph. The social work student from Scotland was last seen on board by his sister on March 16, shortly after texting his wife, Sophia Mcphee, about feeling seasick, reports said. A Princess Cruises ship carrying nearly 4,500 people smashed into a San Francisco pier Thursday while the crew was attempting to dock.

It is essential to assess how human factors and safety procedures come into play during such incidents. The design and structural integrity of a cruise ship play a crucial role in determining its ability to withstand the forces of a storm. Cruise lines invest heavily in ensuring their vessels are built to withstand adverse weather conditions.

Passenger education and awareness are also crucial in promoting a culture of safety on board cruise ships. Informing passengers about safety measures, emergency procedures, and the importance of following instructions can help reduce panic and improve overall response during a crisis. By investing in advanced technology and collaborating with meteorological agencies, cruise lines can better anticipate and navigate through adverse weather conditions. Additionally, developing onboard systems that provide real-time weather updates to both crew and passengers can greatly enhance situational awareness.

None of the 266 passengers or 131 crew members were seriously injured, HX said. The MS Maud lost power after the wave hit as the ship was sailing toward Tilbury, England, from Florø, Norway, HX, a unit of Norway’s Hurtigruten Group, said in a statement. "I just hope it's safe because of what happened this morning, I'm sure they wouldn't let everybody get on the boat unless it was safe," said Debbie McIntosh. "I just happened to see it on the news from my hotel room, I was waiting to check out," said Ann Portillo from Scottsdale, Arizona. "I'm sure they know what's best, I have been on many cruises and I don't see this as being a huge issue, it didn't look that bad."

BEST Discounted Carnival Cruise Line Cruise Deals

carnival last minute cruise

This means having a well-curated checklist of essentials tailored for quick departures. Since there’s no time to fret over forgotten items, a comprehensive list ensures you won’t leave behind critical things like passports, medication, or suitable attire for the destination’s weather. Preparing for a last-minute cruise means understanding these variables and being ready to make quick decisions.

Enjoy some of our hottest fares on upcoming departures

When checking out a last-minute fare, you should do a comparison with other value-added offers and booking perks from the cruise line. Comparing deals listed at vacationstogo.com, you'll see last-minute deals ranging from about 30% to more than 85% off full fares. Keep in mind, though, that it's rare for anyone to pay a full fare or brochure price. On the other hand, if you do happen to purchase your drinks package onboard, you do have the option of starting the plan at a prorated rate whenever you want. For instance, if you don't want it on embarkation day, you can start it the next day. You don’t need a lot of days off to enjoy a thrilling vacation.

Is it beneficial to be flexible when searching for last-minute cruise offers?

If you are on a longer cruise and will drink more than that, you'll save by ordering a Bottomless Bubbles soda package. Keep in mind that if you do go that route, you will have to buy it for all remaining days of the cruise. To dissuade any fears cruisers might have about overpaying for shore excursions, Carnival has a Best Price Guarantee. Carnival Cruise Line has 14 homeports in the U.S., including 10 year-round ones, which is the most of any cruise line. Lastly, I always review the cancellation policy carefully. Flexibility works both ways, and understanding the terms can save a lot of hassle if plans change unexpectedly.

While it’s always best to cruise with a passport, a certified copy of your birth certificate and a valid government-issued ID are acceptable for most cruises from the US for US citizens. Once your cruise is booked, you’ll want to start preparing for your vacation since you don’t have much time to prepare. But if you’re new to cruising or not comfortable booking online, you can almost always call the cruise line or travel agency to book over the phone. You’ll want to act quickly, though… the best deals don’t last long. If you live near a port, a last-minute cruise could be a bargain, but if you need to book airfare, your vacation could get expensive quickly.

Last-minute cruises may not be for you if …

When you see an email with subject lines like “Pack and Go! ” or “Last Chance Savings,” open them immediately and book quickly if that offer interests you. That may have been the case years ago, but thanks to changes in security procedures, those days are long gone. So when we talk about jumping on a last-minute deal, we’re talking anywhere from after the final payment date has passed to around a week before the ship is set to sail.

It could also be located in a relatively undesirable location. So you have to balance the possibility of a less-desirable stateroom against the low price. Illness, injury, or lost luggage can strike on any cruise, so protect yourself against these unexpected expenses. Carnival Cruise Line and Norwegian Cruise Line’s casino clubs tend to be the most aggressive with these offers.

The Best Ways to Book a Cruise

Carnival ships offer a ton of free dining options, so you can have variety without having to splurge on specialty restaurants. One of the best and most popular bites on Carnival Cruise Line ships are food celebrity Guy Fieri burgers. One of your best bets for a cheap Carnival cruise is to check out the line’s drink packages.

Last-minute cruises mean you don’t need to stress about booking accommodation, car hire, transport, restaurants, or entertainment overseas or in an Australian location. It’s all taken care of, with more than 45 activities and Wi-Fi aboard our cruise ships. Use our search filter below to find the best deals on last minute cruises to Australia and beyond.

This proactive approach allows me to maximize my time enjoying the ship’s offerings rather than figuring out where to go next. Sometimes, Carnival may adjust itineraries based on a variety of factors, including weather or port availability. While this can be an exciting opportunity to explore unexpected destinations, I need to be open to these adjustments. Armed with these strategies, I’m confident in my ability to find the best Carnival cruise deals, even at the last minute.

The thing is, just like clothes that have hung on sale racks for a while, if you're picky, you might not find an acceptable cruise bargain. If you wait too long, you'll be left with whatever selection is available — ships, cabins and dates — that are less likely to be near the top of your wish list. You can also preorder a water package after you book your Carnival cruise.

The total savings potential depends on how and when you book your cruise, and what deals you find. Traveling during peak season is more costly because of demand. Booking a cruise during the shoulder season — the time between peak season and low season — can be beneficial because demand is much lower, and cabins go unfilled. When you choose to apply (and are approved) for a new credit card through our site, we may receive compensation from our partners, and this may impact how or where these products appear. Please view our advertising policy and product review methodology for more information.

Even though it often happens in movies and on television shows, know that you aren’t be able to waltz into the terminal a few hours before sailing and jumping on board. Much like the vikings, Carnival Pride is taking a detour to Greenland. Get ready to explore the land of icebergs, Norsemen and the Northern Lights in more epic ways than ever before.

Inside cabins tend to be more abundant last-minute as they’re less sought after than oceanview or balcony rooms. However, if I’m not particular about the type of cabin, I might snag an incredible deal. Being spontaneous doesn’t have to mean being reckless or impulsive. In the case of booking a last-minute Carnival cruise, it opens the door to smarter travels and unexpectedly delightful experiences—and that’s something worth diving into with wide-eyed enthusiasm.

The same applies to cabin types that are limited in number, such as family, spa or solo cabins. Deals on last-minute cruises tend to be on Bahamas, Caribbean and even Mediterranean cruises that are shorter than a week or on cruises of more than 10 days. This includes repositioning cruises — when a ship moves from one region of the world to another — such as between Europe and the Caribbean. On the other hand, some of the best deals are before and after these time slots when the kids are back in school.

The best time to find a last-minute cruise deal is usually about 60 to 90 days before the departure date. Yes, being flexible with your travel dates and destinations can lead to significant savings on last-minute cruise bookings. These short trips can be filled with culture, adventure, or relaxation.

What Clothing To Pack For Your First Cruise

what to wear on a cruise ship

Protective gear like sun hats and UV-filter sunglasses are more than fashion statements; they’re necessities to shield you from the midday glare. Below is a table highlighting essential day wear for your next cruise. On Carnival cruise formal nights, known as "cruise elegant" nights, cruisers wear everything from slacks with nice shirts to tuxes and ball gowns. However, most passengers stick to clothes that fall somewhere in the middle.

But here are a few types of suggested attire you’ll see, grouped by item. Here’s a pretty strapless dress that will look great in the evening on a cruise, from Celebrity to Norwegian. This maxi dress with pockets comes in several fabric choices and two styles, with and without sleeves.

Packing For Your Vacation Plans

Many first time cruisers are concerned about what to wear on formal nights on a cruise. It’s understandable, as this is quite different from a typical land vacation. If you’re cruising with kids, you can have them put a bathing suit on under their clothing. This way they can hit the pool and water slides as soon as you finish lunch on embarkation day. While you definitely can still wear an evening gown and tuxedo, most popular cruise lines have relaxed their dress codes over the last few years. You can still expect to dress up on a cruise, but there are more opportunities to dress less formally if you prefer this as well.

You'll also want to consider what you'll need aboard your cruise aside from clothing. Here’s a list of clothing to bring on a 7 day Caribbean or warm weather cruise. For ladies, dressing in an evening gown, cocktail dress, or fancy outfit is perfect. Usually, cruise lines give a good luggage allowance – or none at all, letting you take as much as you can carry. However, think about the size of your bags as they have to fit into your stateroom and your clothes in the wardrobe and drawers available. Sometimes I also like to pack light snacks, particularly if you have kids.

My own cruise outfit list is larger than this, but based on feedback in my Life Well Cruised Facebook community, I think this is a sufficient base. Another factor to consider when deciding what to wear on a cruise is how much you need to pack. You’ll need to consider your luggage allowance and whether you will use the onboard laundry service. Clothes made from cotton, linen, or moisture-wicking synthetics can be the most comfortable, especially in warmer climates. For example, Royal Caribbean is known for various theme nights, such as Black and White Night, 60s, 70s, and 80s nights, and Toga Parties.

Note that formal nights are always optional on the line's weeklong sailings in the Baltic, Mediterranean and Alaska. Men may wear slacks with collared dress shirts or sweaters, but jackets are optional. Women should choose dresses, pantsuits or skirts or slacks with nice tops. Packing outfits for vacation can be overwhelming, especially if you're one to overpack for a trip. If that's you, a weekend getaway can be the perfect challenge for you to curb your bad habits and stick to packing for versatility. The best advice I can give is to pack for the vacation you want to have.

Of course it’s colder at night, and during the earlier and later times in the cruise season. Packing for days of beachgoing and shopping will call for different outfits for adventures like horseback riding, ziplining and ATV tours. This outfit can easily carry you into the evening, but dainty jewelry, colorful slip-on shoes, a Panama hat and swapping from a backpack to handbag will create a softer look.

You’ll be able to walk up and order from the grill in a bikini or swim trunks, then enjoy your meal at your sun lounger or a nearby table. So it’s really up to you what end of the resort-casual spectrum you’d like to wear on the first day of your cruise. But if you’ve already researched all the fun things you’d like to see and do soon after you board, you might want to consider your outfit a bit more carefully.

what to wear on a cruise ship

That means you can be more casual in the buffet and regular specialty restaurants. You could have scorching hot temperatures during the day, but it's chilly at night on board as your ship is cruising between islands. You'll likely want to bring a lightweight sweater or cardigan for the evening time and the onboard air conditioning.

For port days, consider your shore excursion plans and decide what to wear. If you’re heading to a beach, a bathing suit and cover up are perfect. If you’re sightseeing, a cute top and shorts or a sundress or maxi dress is the way to go. Let’s start with what cruise wear you’ll need for your cruise vacation. On a 7 day Caribbean cruise, you’ll want to be prepared with casual resort style clothing for the day, and a mix of cruise casual and dressy outfits for evening.

Formal dress codes for ladies include cocktail dresses, elegant skirts, and evening-wear blouses. In keeping with its promise of “modern luxury”, Celebrity Cruises has kicked out the formal dress code and wisely replaced it with evening chic. So a degree of glamour is encouraged on up to two nights on each cruise — cocktail dress or trousers with an elegant top for women; trousers and shirt for men. Even “designer jeans” are permitted, although presumably not the ripped type. There’s still the option to go full black tie and a few diehards do, but it’s not necessary. Norwegian Freestyle Cruising allows you to dress more casually than you might be able to with other cruise lines.

This floral top is is gorgeous paired with shorts or white pants. This loose blouse is available in different colors and patterns as well. Surprisingly my Birkenstock Arizona sandals were my go-to shoe on all my excursions. I even climbed a mountain in Kotor Montenegro in them and they were still comfortable afterward.

Note that cover-ups are required for entry at all restaurants and dining rooms, with the exception of walk-up, poolside window-service venues. On most ships, this clothing will also be acceptable at night in the main dining rooms. For extra-fee restaurants, you might choose to dress up a bit more -- perhaps collared shirts or long-sleeve button-downs for men and slacks with a blouse, or a dress, for women. In general, the same rules apply to men and women when it comes to packing for a cruise. Keep shorts, jeans and pants to a minimum and devote space to fresh shirts, tank tops, polos and what not.

With that in mind, the line doesn't mention super-fancy garb like ball gowns or tuxes; instead, it advises suits or slacks with jackets for men and cocktail dresses or pantsuits for the ladies. Yes, there's one on every sailing of six nights or fewer and two on voyages of a week or more, but they have a different name. "Evening chic" nights encourage passengers to go all out with tuxes and evening gowns.

On the whole, as long as you look nice and your clothes aren’t ripped or have too much skin showing, you’ll generally be fine. But, it’s wise the check the dress code of your particular cruise line to avoid having to nip back to your room to change. Sometimes it can get a little bit cold on a cruise ship, even if you’re in the Caribbean. Firstly, the air con can make the inside of the ship feel quite cold. If you’re doing indoor activities, where you may be sat still for a long period of time, such as watching a show or enjoying a top dining experience, the air con can make you feel a bit cold.

Their stateroom, while beautiful, was an aft cabin and not connected to the main Haven area on the ship. Beyond the unique design elements and slightly more spacious cabin (with a proper bathroom layout), the Haven offered a Butler and Concierge that they rarely used. The consensus regarding the Haven on Norwegian is the value exists primarily in the private dining, lounge, and bar areas as well as other exclusive-use outdoor spaces. Most people who I know that have booked in the Haven suites tell me that they’d probably not pay full price for the experience but rather bid for an upgrade when possible. NCl Epic's Studios are designed for single passengers and are available for booking as single occupancy cruise cabins. Each one of these special category staterooms has a queen bed (full size), corridor window view, mood/special lightning.

Passes can be purchased for the entire cruise or just by the day, although the area is capacity controlled. Epic has lively bars like Shaker’s Martini bar and Maltings Sports Bar. Open air bars surround the pool areas and outdoor decks. One of the most interesting bars is the Ice Bar, where the entry fee includes two complimentary drinks. Guests don insulated capes before venturing into this cool spot.

The Bliss Lounge on the Epic is quite impressive given it’s essentially a well-done night club at sea. When you’re there, you wouldn’t know that you’re on a cruise ship. The lounge is what you’d expect in the evenings and is adult-only starting around 9 pm. Other than serving the purpose of a bar, club, or lounge, Bliss is also used during the day for private events and gatherings.

Norwegian Epic was intended to have two sister ships — but is now the only one in its class.

Unfortunately, their late-night snack section was not up to par with what they served on the Norwegian Pearl. We had our embarkation lunch here, which should have been a sign of things to come – the food was tasteless. The fried chicken they served hubby tasted like they tossed the chicken in some breadcrumb, fried it, and forgot to add a dash of salt or seasoning. Nowhere on the menu did it say the item comes with chili, but they argued it was the way it came. Well then, folks, if you’re going to contradict your menu description, update it.

Modern, spacious suites perfect for the two of you or the whole family. First-class amenities include large balconies, butlers and more. Admittedly, this is a strange concept and I can’t quite figure out the reason behind it but it’s fun to try it once, just to say you did.

You can also chow down on plenty of Irish comfort foods, including prime rib and all-you-can-eat ribs. Shaker's Martini Bar is the perfect spot to unwind at night with a martini or two. Whether you are considering a Mediterranean cruise, island hopping in The Caribbean, or embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime Transatlantic cruise, Norwegian Epic might be the ship for you. Dining venues enhancements include new carpeting and decors, and their furniture was reupholstered. “Priscilla Queen Of The Desert” show is a musical type of comedy entertainment.

The ship boasts a gross tonnage of 155,873 GT, with a length of 1,081 feet and a height of 200 feet. There are 19 decks, and a capacity for 4,100 passengers (at double occupancy) and 1,724 crew. If you’d prefer not to get your hair wet, you can enjoy the rock climbing and repelling walls, or the miniature golf course. A sports complex also offers a basketball court, climbing cage and trampoline. One great thing about really any Norwegian cruise ship? The cruise line can be relied upon to outfit each of its ships with plenteous dining options.

Floor-to-ceiling glass doors open to your own sweeping balcony. Well-appointed and spacious style awaits you back inside. If you can get over the layout of the cabins and bathrooms, the rest of the ship is great. In addition to the outdoor activities, there’s an indoor bowling alley, Ice bar, video games, library, casino, theater, nightclub, shopping, and more. Pools, a waterslide, an aqua park, a rock climbing wall, and huge sun decks are among the many things to do on the Epic.

The "Active & Discovery on the Rhone" cruise begins in Lyon and heads south through the French countryside of Provence and ends in Port-Saint-Louis. On the way, Avalon Choice excursions include a culinary walk, cooking class, painting workshop, wine tastings, guided bike rides, and more, with Active, Classic, and Discovery level activities. Programming and excursions are geared toward kids, To that end, expect a focus on storytelling rather than straight history lessons.

AmaWaterways' active excursions take in some of Europe’s most breathtaking scenery—enticing passengers on hilly bike rides and waterside hikes. Unforeseen circumstances may occur on the rivers of Europe from time-to-time, including high and low water levels. Tauck is always prepared to deal with these eventualities in order to preserve your Tauck experience. Their cruise in northern Italy along the Po River, "From the Canals of Venice to Renaissance-infused Mantua," is a seven-day excursion starting in Venice where guests can discover St. Mark's Square and Doge's Palace.

It was a dream come true for the Askewniverse fans to get up close and personal experiences at sea for these three days. We would highly recommend this cruise when it comes back in 2026 for any Jay and Silent Bob fan. Kevin noted before sailing in a Facebook and during the Q&A onboard that the schedule was changing because he felt like the Clerks III script was just too depressing to end the cruise. He made a pivot to another unreleased script and movie called Moose Jaws, for the final script reading with the entire cast of actors onboard and some key audience participation. That evening, the cast of Mallrats met up to do a live script reading of the next version of the movie called Twilight of the Mallrats.

He also mentioned that he is excited to be in Miami, where his favorite show, CSI Miami was based. After the group photo, Smith brought out the actors and hosts that were joining him on the cruise for the weekend. He gave an introduction of each person and how they fit into the View Askewniverse. Friday’s activities began with Open Play Street Hockey on deck, based on Dante and Randal’s games of street hockey on the roof of the Quick Stop. The Jay and Silent Bob Cruise Askew made its debut voyage from February 23rd through the 26th aboard the Norwegian Pearl with Sixthman. The cruise began in Miami, Florida and sailed all the way to Nassau, Bahamas.

We sometimes refer to this Brazilian-style steakhouse as the Meat Parade! As the skewers of barbequed meats are carved tableside, you control how much you want. Green for go and the parade continues or red to stop. Also, enjoy a wide selection of perfectly prepared salads, sliced meats and traditional accompanying dishes from the salad bar. All travelers who secure pre/sale signups will get a photo opportunity with host Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes in character as Jay and Silent Bob.

We caught Roots of Mine performing in the atrium before dinner and jammed out to their reggae style beats with fans who were back for more after catching their first performance on Friday night. The bands “Green Trees” and “Something’s Got to Give” were featured on the Clerks III soundtrack. Between live events we also checked out the Kevin Smith Me-Seum that was located on Deck 7 mid-ship. The space was setup to showcase Kevin’s movie memorabilia that he has collected over the past several decades while making his films.

Cruise to La Paz and visit a pottery factory, or head downtown to shop for artisan gifts — like hand-crafted jewelry, woven gifts and decorations. Tour a coffee plantation in Puerto Vallarta, and enjoy a prepared lunch on the grounds. Or spend a full day exploring Colima, a short drive from Manzanillo, where 200-year old ruins of the Pyramids of La Campana whisper secrets of times past. All of the elevators were clogged up because so many people were leaving at the same time so I convinced my husband to just roll our suitcases down the stairs. We did make quite a racket but the others saw what we were doing and caught on.

There are more than 20 shore excursions you can book when you buy your cruise or while you are on the cruise ship. Excursion options range from nearby wine country tours of Valle de Guadalupe (Guadalupe Valley), to surfing, kayaking, food tours and lots more. It is a super fun way to spend a weekend and what my husband and I found out, is we truly had a vacation. Because of the teen club, which my son loved, we found we had lots of time to relax and enjoy the cruise to Mexico as adults. Mexico might be right down there, but it exists in another world entirely.

It’s your cruise ship bible and we carried it with us and constantly referred to it throughout the day and evening. There is so much to do on the Carnival cruise and with a three-day cruise, we found we spent very little time in our room and preferred lounging at the pool to the stateroom. There are three stateroom categories on the Carnival Radiance; Interior, Ocean View, and Suite. We had an ocean view room, which is listed as sleeping up to five people.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

If there’s one thing about cruises, it’s that you have lots and lots of choices and you’ll certainly never go hungry! As I shared above, my husband and I found that our son wanted to hang out with the other teens and for the most part planned his days and nights around the club. My husband, son, and I sailed with Carnival for this 3 Day Baja Mexico cruise from Long Beach. It is a great long weekend vacation, especially for anyone within easy driving distance of Long Beach, California.

They also have a “best price guarantee” to get your best Carnival Cruise deals and cruise from Long Beach deals, offer flexible payment plans, and have options for lots of Carnival Cruises to Mexico. We really enjoyed the comedy on board and made a point to go to one of the three nightly shows in the Xanadu Lounge. They offer PG and adult versions (18+) of the comedy shows. Our son really enjoyed the comedy as well and joined us most evenings for the PG show. During our cruise, we had a bit of rain on day one and it was a tad chilly for the waterslides for us.

Between the teen club for my son and all the fun things to do onboard, there just wasn’t enough time to experience it all plus enjoy some downtime. With over 60 years of experience, we know all the cities and excursions that provide the most authentic Mexico cruise adventures — not just margaritas and mariachis, but more! Visit the best ports in the Mexican Riviera and get a taste of the warm sun, diverse culture and festive flavors of the region. Each itinerary offers something unique, like more time ashore in Cabo or the unparalleled ports of La Paz or Loreto on our 10-day cruises to Mexico. Cruise Critic is not a booking agent and does not charge any service fees to users of our site.

Taking pictures on the cruise by professional photographers is always free on the ship. You'd always find photographers around the ship and at the Sunset Dining Room every day of this Carnival cruise. However, on elegant nights, you can take really nice family portraits. If you love getting a picture taken, you will love the many portrait opportunities on the cruise. On elegant nights, there is also usually a late night party on the main floor.

Kids are going to love Camp Ocean™, Circle “C”® and Club O2® — each one is perfectly designed for a different age group. With regular sailings out of San Francisco and Los Angeles, Mexico is just one flight — or drive — away. No matter how busy your schedule may be, you can still indulge in a quintessential Mexico cruise vacation any time of the year thanks to our year round sailings.

If you have more time to spare, arrive early or stay longer and explore the wonders of our West Coast embarkation ports. Then, it was time for the kids' evening kids' club activities that started at 7PM that night, so we went to the 12th floor to find Camp Ocean and checked both of our kids in. It's a closed club so only the kids are allowed to enter and leave their door. No other adults besides for the youth staff, who work there, are allowed to walk through the door, which gave me peace of mind.

In Mexico, you can explore an array of culturally unique cities like Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas and Cozumel, as well as cruise ports such as Huatulco, Costa Maya and the Yucatan. And the best way to get to know these places is by arriving from the water. When you travel to Mexico, one of the best ways to enjoy the country is by immersion. Try the local food, shop the local markets, and choose excursions that allow you to spend time getting to know a specific neighborhood, historic site or natural wonder. Cruise the Yucatan Peninsula, which separates the Caribbean Sea from the Gulf of Mexico, and discover Mexico's Caribbean side. Stop in Cozumel island, off the east coast of Yucatan, and enjoy the bright-blue waters and untouched paradise appeal.
